If you feel frustrated and confused you need some "straight talk" so that you can be informed and protect yourself from timeshare scams.

There are literally hundreds of timeshare scams circulating today. BUYER BEWARE! We help our clients with some of the common scams being used today in the timeshare industry. Here are a few of the most common scams associated with Internet listing companies and the tactics used to snare potential owners looking to sell or rent. Read these and you don't fall victim to one of these scams.

The first thing you need to know is when you are buying a timeshare in Mexico, you are protected by Mexican laws, so before signing any paper we suggest you do your homework.

When you buying a timeshare in Mexico it is important to know that the developers own the resort, so your investment is not legally considered real estate. You only purchase the right to use one or more units for a specific number of weeks, during a certain number of years (usually 1 to 50 weeks).

In most cases, you have to pay an initial purchase price and periodic maintenance fees, which are likely to increase every year. If you want to sell or rent your right to use the interval you own, you may need the developer approval and the resale value will most likely be lower than what you paid. This is why the value of a timeshare is not an investment, but just a vacation option.
